About the scent
Opens with bergamot and cardamom, then settles into cinnamon and balsam (warm, resinous sweetness). Clary sage adds a herbal edge, and vanilla rests on smoky guaiac wood. For autumn and winter, the office or a dinner. A new release this season, so worth trying on skin before buying a full bottle.
Notes
Notes are what you smell in the scent. The top ones come first, the heart follows, the base stays with you the longest. The number next to a note is how many fragrances in the catalogue have it.
Top notes. The first 15–30 minutes after you put it on: what you smell straight away.
- Bergamot· 24. An Italian citrus. Lemon peel and Earl Grey tea: bright and a little bitter.
- Cardamom· 6. A spice from the ginger family. Fresh and cool, with a hint of eucalyptus and lemon.
- Pink pepper· 7. Dried berries of the Peruvian pepper tree, not a true pepper. A light spice: fresh, a little fruity and resinous, with a gentle tingle.
Heart notes. Opens up after about half an hour and stays for a few hours: the character of the scent.
- . Fragrant resins of tropical trees, such as Peru and tolu balsam. Warm, sweet and sticky, with hints of vanilla and cinnamon.
- Clary sage· 3. A herb related to garden sage. Herbal and slightly sweet, with a warm touch of tea and hay.
- Cinnamon· 14. Bark of the cinnamon tree. Warm, sweet and spicy, like cinnamon buns.
Base notes. Stays the longest, until the end of the day: what you later notice on your clothes and scarf.
- Vanilla· 46. Pods of the vanilla orchid. Warm sweetness; in niche perfumes it comes with smoke and wood rather than smelling of cake.
- Tonka bean· 21. Seed of a South American tree. Almond, hay and vanilla at once: a cosy, edible note.
- Guaiac wood· 3. Wood of a South American tree. Smoky and soft, with a hint of tar and vanilla.
