About the scent
Opens with a flash of bergamot and violet, then settles into orris butter (a creamy iris-root extract that smells of powder) over nutty sandalwood and soft musk. Feels like clean skin and a cashmere jumper. For daytime, the office, spring and autumn. Despite the name, it does not shout: a soft trail, not a cloud.
Notes
Notes are what you smell in the scent. The top ones come first, the heart follows, the base stays with you the longest. The number next to a note is how many fragrances in the catalogue have it.
Top notes. The first 15–30 minutes after you put it on: what you smell straight away.
- Bergamot· 24. An Italian citrus. Lemon peel and Earl Grey tea: bright and a little bitter.
- Violet· 6. Violet flowers and leaves. The flower smells of sweet powder, the leaf of fresh greenery, close to cucumber.
Heart notes. Opens up after about half an hour and stays for a few hours: the character of the scent.
- Iris· 7. Oil from the root of the iris. Cool and powdery, like make-up powder, with a hint of carrot.
- . A synthetic ambery material inspired by ambergris. A dry, woody warmth with a mineral edge that radiates from the skin.
- . An animal note once taken from the civet, a small wild mammal; today it is made synthetically. Warm, musky and animalic, it makes flowers smell fuller.
Base notes. Stays the longest, until the end of the day: what you later notice on your clothes and scarf.
- Sandalwood· 17. Wood of the sandalwood tree. Soft and creamy, warm like skin after the sun.
- Musk· 38. Synthetic molecules that smell of clean, warm skin. Like a jumper someone you love just wore.
- Akigalawood· 9. A material made from patchouli oil. Dry wood with a peppery, slightly spicy edge, without the earthiness of patchouli.
