About the scent
Opens with pink pepper and crisp greenery, then iris (a root that smells of cool earth and powder) takes over. It settles on creamy sandalwood and soft suede, like velvet on skin. For daytime in spring and autumn, the office or a walk. Greener and woodier than the usual powdery iris.
Notes
Notes are what you smell in the scent. The top ones come first, the heart follows, the base stays with you the longest. The number next to a note is how many fragrances in the catalogue have it.
Top notes. The first 15–30 minutes after you put it on: what you smell straight away.
- Pink pepper· 7. Dried berries of the Peruvian pepper tree, not a true pepper. A light spice: fresh, a little fruity and resinous, with a gentle tingle.
- Turmeric· 2. Root of a plant from the ginger family, the spice that turns curry yellow. Warm and earthy, slightly peppery, with a gentle bitterness.
- Buchu· 2. A shrub from South Africa. Its leaves smell of blackcurrant and mint, a little medicinal.
Heart notes. Opens up after about half an hour and stays for a few hours: the character of the scent.
- Iris· 7. Oil from the root of the iris. Cool and powdery, like make-up powder, with a hint of carrot.
- Galbanum· 2. Resin of a wild plant from the fennel family. Sharp and very green, like snapped stems and bitter leaves.
- . Resin of the Mediterranean mastic tree. Resinous and slightly piney, with a fresh green note and balsamic warmth.
Base notes. Stays the longest, until the end of the day: what you later notice on your clothes and scarf.
- Sandalwood· 17. Wood of the sandalwood tree. Soft and creamy, warm like skin after the sun.
- Labdanum· 8. A sticky resin of the rockrose, a Mediterranean shrub. Warm and dark, with a leathery touch: the base of many amber scents.
- Leather· 5. An accord that recalls leather. Soft suede or a new leather jacket; it can be smooth or smoky.
